Dan Clivner is a global leader at Sidley Austin. He is managing partner of the firm’s 140-lawyer Los Angeles offices, among the top 10 in Los Angeles, and he also guides the direction of the firm internationally as a member of its Executive Committee and co-leader of the firm’s 390-lawyer global M&A and Private Equity group. He achieves this while maintaining a prolific and influential practice.

As a leader, Clivner holds the distinction of opening offices in Century City (both for Sidley and previously for Simpson Thacher). In the past five years, he has elevated the firm’s global M&A/Private Equity practice from 40th place to 8th place nationally in Bloomberg’s rankings by deal value. His leadership was crucial during recent events. He helped guide the firm through the pandemic and gave voice to the concerns of lawyers dealing with the stresses of COVID-19 and its impact on the legal profession.
