Calfo’s practice is devoted to trying high-profile product liability matters in the pharmaceutical and medical device, automotive, heavy machinery and chemical industries. He also has several winning verdicts in high-profile “bet the company” product liability cases, complex commercial and insurance coverage trials. He served as trial counsel for Boehringer Ingelheim in the first California trial in litigation alleging that heartburn medication Zantac causes cancer. He was also trial counsel for Johnson & Johnson in the first cosmetic talc/mesothelioma trial to go to verdict in the country (a defense verdict for J&J).
