Veronica Vasquez-Montez, MD has been with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Keck since 2008, first as a resident in training, then chief resident, and finally as a faculty member. She previously served in various administrative roles at LAC+USC Medical Center as an attending physician. As the medical director of the Emergency Department at PIH Good Samaritan Hospital, her leadership skills proved to be critical during the COVID-19 pandemic. Without a chief medical officer at the time, she led the COVID-19 response for the entire hospital. For this work, she was awarded the Community Hero Award by the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club in 2021.
