ENDOCRINOLOGY Endocrinologist PIH Health

Christian Gastelum MD is a board-certified endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes and metabolism. He is fellowship-trained to perform routine thyroid ultrasound and biopsy. When he started at PIH Health in 2009, Dr. Gastelum developed the glucose management team (GMT) and has since been the director of the inpatient GMT. He also served as the endocrine medical director from 2009-2018. Dr. Gastelum taught as an associate professor of medicine for Loma Linda University Medical School from 2008 until 2015. Dr. Gastelum, who is fluent in Spanish, has also appeared as a medical expert on Univision to address topics including diabetes care, asthma, teen steroid use and obesity.
