SC Colorectal Surgery has become a top-tier colorectal surgery program both clinically and academically over the past seven years. Joongho Shin, MD FACS FACRS has played an integral role, in that he started a successful HIPEC program for pseudomyxoma peritonei, led robotic colorectal surgery, and multi-visceral resection for locally advanced colorectal cancer. Dr. Shin has been active in the Korean and African-American community to share the information about young age onset colorectal cancer and the importance of colonoscopy. He has mentored medical students, undergraduate students, as well as surgery residents and has been recognized as teacher of the year twice.
