Dr. David Shavelle is a valued interventional cardiologist who has expanded and grown the heart failure, structural heart, and cardiac research programs since joining the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute at LBMC in 2021. Dr. Shavelle’s pedigree speaks to his extensive experience and research in interventional cardiology. Recent accomplishments include offering the MitraClip procedure to treat patients with mitral regurgitation and proctoring five interventional cardiologists in the greater Long Beach area; and developing the protocol/ IRB protocol for Los Angeles County based ECMO pilot to test use of mechanical CPR for cardiac arrest at four leading hospitals, including Long Beach Medical Center.
