EVA DAVIS

Chair, Transactions Department Winston & Strawn LLP

As a woman in the predominantly male private equity field, Eva Davis works hard to connect and support women in the industry. She serves on Winston’s Women’s Leadership Council (2011-present) and champions women’s voices through thought leadership. In 2020, Davis wrote a scorching response to a Forbes article that asserted women don’t want to own their own private equity firms. She even worked with Winston to host a four-part event titled “Correcting the Record: Yes, Women Want to Own Their Own PE Firms.” During the event, women GPs provided insights into launching and running their own PE firms and LPs discussed key considerations for making an investment in a first-time fund.

She is involved with a variety of local, academic, and professional communities. She is especially proud of her contributions to Read To A Child. Since 2004, Davis has served as the organization’s chairwoman of the Regional Board of Directors (Los Angeles). In addition to her duties as chairwoman, she reads biweekly with her reading buddy Hector from nearby Leo Politi Elementary. In 2020 she spearheaded Winston’s continued support of the program as the inaugural sponsor of its Read Aloud program, donating money, and identifying authors who could be recorded reading their books aloud for children in quarantine. In 2021, Read To A Child presented Davis with its Lifetime Achievement award.

Davis’ community involvement also includes her work on the Institute for Corporate Counsel Advisory Board (2019 - present); Board of Governors (2010 - 2018); and Institute chairwoman (2013 - 2014).
