Etienne formerly managed Team SoloMid’s squad of pro gamers before cofounding Cloud9 in 2012 with his wife, Pauline. The company is now among the most valuable and influential businesses in esports, with more than a dozen teams competing in multiple esports. Cloud9 has been a trendsetter in the industry; it was among the first esports organizations to offer players conventional salaries and health benefits and in 2020 unveiled an innovative membership program for super-fans. In February, Cloud9 announced a new sponsorship deal and partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Blockchain.com.
