After offloading the Fox’s major studio operations to the Walt Disney Co. three years ago, Murdoch sits atop the slimmeddown Fox TV broadcasting and cable news company and separately the News Corp. publications and books including the Wall Street Journal. He is heir apparent to his 91-year-old conservative father and there’s speculation on how his personal outlook might eventually influence news operations.
