Johnson, the basketball legend who became a key figure in the 1990s fight against HIV and AIDS, has become an outspoken advocate for Black Covid-19 victims. Johnson is one of the leading investors in minority-owned tech companies, including Uncharted Power and Jopwell. Johnson is chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises and part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Football Club, the Los Angeles Sparks and esports franchise Team Liquid. Johnson forged a partnership with Sony Pictures to develop Magic Johnson Theatres and in 1998 entered a partnership with Starbucks Corp. to open more than 100 stores in underserved neighborhoods.
