Wolff and his team made strides toward turning Banc of California into the region’s leading relationship-focused business bank. It finished 2021 with some of its strongest growth on record and eclipsed those totals in the first quarter of 2022, with its best financial quarter under Wolff’s tenure and strong loan growth across all categories, showing the benefit of its Pacific Mercantile Bancorp acquisition. Through investments in Finexio, an accounts payable payments-as-a-service company, and the second fund raised by Hawke Ventures, Wolff also looked expand Banc of California’s offerings for its business clients and to further penetrate L.A.’s technology landscape.
