JOHN RAFFOUL
President Adventist Health White Memorial
Raffoul was named president of Adventist Health in 2015; he oversees the 353bed teaching hospital in Boyle Heights that serves more than 245,000 patients annually. He joined White Memorial in 1984 as an accountant, rising through the ranks to serve as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. During his tenure, Raffoul helped oversee construction of the medical center’s $250 million replacement hospital to comply with seismic retrofit laws. He also helped develop the medical center’s code of business ethics and guiding principles. White Memorial was particularly challenged during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2021; the hospital received staffing help from two National Guard medical strike teams.
