Zhang founded TerraCotta in 2004 to focus on using data-driven insights to construct diverse investment portfolios that can withstand and even benefit from severe market shocks driven by black swan events. Zhang, a Ph.D., also cofounded the Special Assets Management Association in 2008. Under Zhang’s leadership, TerraCotta has had no single credit loss since the firm’s inception. Over the last year and a half, TerraCotta Group has raised over $450 million in new capital commitments from institutional investors and family offices. This allowed the firm to book 15 deals.
