Kramer took over as director and president of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures just a few months before the start of pandemic-related lockdowns, which delayed the museum’s opening. Slated to open in late 2020, it finally did so last fall in an Enzo Piano-designed building on L.A.’s Miracle Mile. He spent the previous five years as the project’s managing director of development and external affairs, raising money for the museum that reportedly cost nearly $500 million, about double what had been expected. Kramer now oversees all aspects of the museum’s management, including staffing, curation, fundraising and creative direction.
