Murphy co-founded Snap with Stanford classmate Evan Spiegel in 2011 and has long directed the company’s efforts to incorporate cutting-edge technological features like augmented reality into its signature app, Snapchat. Murphy is also a driving force behind the company’s efforts to forge partnerships with thirdparty developers who have created some of the app’s most popular features. These partnerships are enabled through a developer toolkit and annual partner summits, where new creator tools are routinely unveiled. In April, Snap partnered with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on augmented reality features highlighting L.A. artists and history.
